Our commitment to your career is backed up with a written guarantee.
EPR's History
Managing Director Russell Johnson established EPR as a result of his own observations in a richly diverse career spanning many parts of the globe. Prior to returning to Australia with his family after 23 years overseas, his business career culminated in the position of Senior Vice President and number two executive of Arby's – a restaurant chain in the USA that he developed through franchising to become one of the world's largest and fastest-growing, with almost two thousand restaurants.
After achieving his executive goals, Russell took a four-year break to reassess his objectives and seek a personally meaningful new career direction. Recognising the extent and impact of the unaddressed career issues of executives, managers and professionals, he founded EPR in 1992. In so doing, Russell pioneered the career management field in Australia.
Since those early days, EPR has helped many thousands of high calibre people to develop more satisfying, productive and balanced careers.
As well as helping individual clients, EPR offers corporate career services including employee engagement, career management, career transition and change management. The company's roster includes major organisations across all sectors of the economy.
EPR's guiding philosophy

At EPR, we believe that careers matter – greatly.
In a time of rapid social and workplace change, it's important for us all to be doing what we enjoy and believe makes a difference.
The problem is that it's all too easy for any one of us to end up in a career or role that is not right for us - then find there seems to be no way out without massive sacrifice of other personal or family objectives.
There are ways out. Unfortunately, all of us tend to have difficulty in analysing and resolving our own career issues, which exist within the context of a bewildering range of options and our own unique and complex needs and attributes. The problem is exacerbated by the natural tendency of others to see our value only in terms of a continuation of what we have already done, and by the highly competitive nature of the market for better-paid positions.
The costs of continuing in an unsatisfying position or career can be high indeed – to the individual, and to their relationships, organisation and society at large. For our society needs successful organisations just as it needs successful families. These can both best be achieved by engaged, empowered and self-actualising people who are passionate about what they do, and who care about their work for its own sake and because they see it as contributing to better lives for those they love.
To achieve this seamless connection between an individual’s career and their contributions to their organisation, family and society, external assistance is often needed. And this is what we aim to provide at EPR – career management assistance at the level required by those who take their careers seriously.
We consider it a privilege to help our clients maximise their contributions through their work while enjoying more satisfying careers.
